Three Rivers Community College Offering

Optics/Photonics Courses

Photonics 101 - Introduction to Photonics: an introduction to optics/photonics, requiring only high school math as a prerequisite. This is a good course for anyone wanting to learn the basics of optics/photonics. It's a three credit "home lab" course, with hands-on activities adapted for home use.

Photonics 241 - Introduction to Lasers: requires a little more math (precalculus) and is good for someone with a science/engineering background who needs to know something about how lasers work, laser accessories and applications. There is a companion lab course (PHO 242) offered at Three Rivers, but it's not necessary to take the lab in order to take the online course. Anyone having difficulty registering because of prerequisite courses should contact Judy Donnelly at jdonnelly@trcc.commnet.edu.

TCN 105 Laser and Lab Safety - Designed for both laser and mechanical/manufacturing technology students, this one credit course introduces the basics of laser, machine shop and laboratory safety . The course is offered both fall and spring semesters.

To register for these courses and for more information, go to http://www.lasertechonline.org.
