Seven teachers have been selected to participate in the RCNGM's Summer Externship Program 2010. These teachers spend four weeks in industry learning about the latest technologies and workplace practices. They will then bring this information back into their classrooms as part of their curriculum. Teachers participating in the summer of 2010 and their placements include:

In addition to working at sponsor companies, the teachers are creating and implementing work-based learning projects to be integrated into their curriculum so that students can benefit from what they learned on the job. As part of the RCNGM grant, they will also be called upon to meet as a team to discuss ways they can collaborate, make presentations about their externship experience, and will be asked to participate in workshops sponsored by the RCNGM, all designed to enhance their understanding of manufacturing practices in the new workplace.

As the primary business partner of the RCNGM, the Connecticut Business and Industry Association administers the externship programs.  This is the sixth year of the RCNGM summer externship program.  To view the curriculum projects of previous and current teacher externs, click here.

Lean and Supply Chain Management Externships and Curriculum Development
